28 May 85 South Mall, Humbly Reinvents Cork’s Financial District
The best construction and rejuvenation in a city, is the one you don’t even realise is happening. This will be undoubtedly the case for many with the respectful and understated 85 South Mall development by JCD group.
Completed quietly and efficiently by PJ Hearty & Sons, it seems obvious now on completion that the project would blend in alongside more dated sites like 89/90 south mall, occupied by KPMG. The confidence in the 85 South Mall project was due to the deep level of consideration and care that the team at G-Net 3D took when tasked with visualising the design by award winning architects Henry J Lyons.
Our exterior CGI’s helped secure planning and provided rich marketing material to show that not only was 85 South Mall respectful, but also beautiful.
The humble façade integrates itself seamlessly with the rest of the street scape of the South Mall, tucked behind the mature foliage, featuring energy efficient curtain wall glazing and finished in tasteful Branco natural stone, incorporating decorative bronze that gives a warm richness to the exterior design, in keeping with the similarly bronzed decorated Imperial Hotel facade which has been a staple of South Mall’s heritage for decades.
Moving internally G-Net 3D also helped render the proposed walnut panelled finishes of the 2,300 sq. ft reception area. Below a single level basement offers 22 car parking spaces with full access lift moving up to the sleek, 46,500 sq. ft office space, that tucks its way humbly around the back of South Mall capturing the full offering of natural light into what was once a closed site. One of the finest areas of the design is the rooftop which provides breath-taking balconies to view the entirety of the South Mall, with views of St. Finbarrs Cathedral right over to historic Cork City Hall.
To capture the full life of the project, G-Net 3D were commissioned to create an animation that not only gave an overview of the many defining features of 85 South Mall but also a sense of the heritage and daily life for future clients in the heart of Cork City.
