Landmark 25-storey Cork Apartment Tower submitted for Planning!

Landmark 25-storey Cork Apartment Tower submitted for Planning!

Our longstanding clients at John Cleary Developments have officially lodged the SHD (Strategic Housing Development) planning application to An Bórd Pleanála for their landmark 25-storey, 201 apartment proposal.

Stretching from the former Sextant Bar and Carey’s Tool Hire and incorporating the old Cork-Blackrock Railway Terminus Building. The development will include a 25th Floor residents lounge in the main tower, underground parking with electric car charging points, an internal public plaza, public café, a residents gym, co-working hub, residents games room, a restaurant earmarked for the refurbished Terminus Building and finally a Roof Top Garden for residents.

Comprising of three sections – Two Residential blocks from 9 to 12 storeys – which contain the inner public plaza – the Railway Terminus Buildings – and finally the Tower itself.

Speaking on the proposal, John Cleary CEO of JCD said

“It’s been almost 12 years since the last new City Centre Apartment scheme of scale was completed in the City and given the current momentum in the office sector, the availability of apartments such as those proposed is an essential ingredient to the ongoing development and growth of the City”.

Conor Healy, CEO of Cork Chamber, also welcomed the development, stating

“Strategically located high density accommodation support sustainable transport and commuting options which are much needed in Cork today”.

If ultimately given the green light, the project will sustain 200 construction jobs and ultimately deliver 93-one bed, 104 two-bed and 4 three-bed apartments. A decision date by An Bord Pleanala is expected within 16 weeks under the SHD application guidelines.

Congratulations to all the entire project team and especially to our team at G-Net 3D for delivering the high-quality 3D Visualisation images.
